The circuitry of the R449 Automatic Voltage Regulator
(AVR) provides closed loop control of the alternator
output voltage by regulating the exciter field current.
The R449 can be powered by either AREP or the PMG
field excitation systems and is fitted as standard on
following alternators:
8100 Series Alternators
9100 Series Alternators

R-448

The circuitry of the R448 Automatic Voltage Regulator
(AVR) provides closed loop control of the alternator
output voltage by regulating the exciter field current.
The R448 can be powered by Shunt, AREP or PMG
field excitation systems and is fitted as standard on:

R-438

For both AREP & PMG excitation systems,
the alternator voltage regulator is the R438.
With
AREP
excitation, the R438 electronic
AVR is powered by two auxiliary windings
which are independent of the voltage
match circuit.

R-450

The circuitry of the R450 Automatic Voltage Regulator
(AVR) provides closed loop control of the alternator
output voltage by regulating the exciter field current.
The R450 can be powered by Shunt, AREP or PMG
field excitation systems and is fitted as standard
on:
– 5000 Series Alternators
– 6100 Series Alternators
– 7000 Series Alternators
– 8200 Series Alternators

R-250

The R250 is an IP00 product. It must be installed inside a unit so that this unit’s cover can provide
IP20 minimum total protection (it must only be installed on LS alternators in the appropriate
location so that when viewed externally, it has a higher degree of protection than IP20).

The circuitry of the R230 Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR)
provides closed loop control of the alternator output voltage by
